Sometimes I get confused about when to use indefinite articles.

Please, help me, what is the difference between "A" and "An" in English?

"A" and "An" are both indefinite articles, which we put before nouns or noun phrases. But "A" should be put before the nouns that start with a consonant and "an" before the nouns starting with a vowel. For example: "I have got a pen. I have got an umbrella".
